About The Event

Join us for our special Save The Rhino Run with Chris "Rhino Boy" Green as well as our very own Chuckle Twin aka George "Floats Like A Rhino" McDonough. The aim of this run is to raise money and awareness for Save The Rhino. The medal is awesome and definitely one to collect.

We will be donating at least £1 of everyone's entry fee to Save The Rhino - lets see how much we can raise!

If you donate £3.00 you will also receive one of the mini-pins.

Distance & Time

This is a 7hr Time Challenge event which allows you full control over the distance you want to run. The minimum distance is 5km, which is part of a lap. A full lap is 4.37 miles (7km) and you can run as many or as few of these laps as you wish in the 7hr time limit which starts from the official event start time. It is 3 laps for a half marathon, 6 for a marathon and 7 or over for an ultra, we also have a 50km distance available.

Course

The course along the River Wear and has views of the Cathedral and Castle. It is fully signed so no navigational experience is required. The course is a mixture with approximately 60% of it on a well-made path / tarmac. Road shoes can be used all year round but if you prefer the extra grip on the trail sections then trail shoes can be worn.

Medals & Pins

As long as you complete one lap, you will be an official finish and you will receive our fantastic medal. We also have distance pins available for anyone who runs a half-marathon distance or more. Pins available to collect are our Half-Marathon, Mega-Half, Marathon, 50km and Ultra pins. You will receive one pin on the ribbon of your medal to reflect your achievement.

Goody Bag

Absolutely! You earned the calories after all, so all our finishers get a goody bag. As well as our standard goody bag, with a selection of various goodies to choose from, we also have a fabulous vegan goody bag for our vegan runners.

Aid Table

We have a fantastic aid table and drinks table at the start / finish of each lap. There is a great selection of savoury, sweet, fruit, cheese and vegan items at the aid table.
